It is my pleasure to welcome you to the E.C.F. website. It is our intention that this site become ever more comprehensive, reflecting the ever wider spectrum of E.C.F. activity.

The last eight years were characterized by an exponential growth of interest in our Olympic sport, with corresponding growth in E.C.F. membership. That our new members were integrated so "seamlessly" into European curling, in full respect of the traditions of our fine sport, is in great measure thanks to our outgoing President, Mr. Malcolm Richardson, and his officers.

Whilst looking forward to welcoming even more members, and to furthering the interests of European curling on the worldwide stage, the E.C.F.'s task for the coming years is to be of ever greater service to its curlers by widening the scope of its activity. We look forward to meeting all the various challenges that await us!

I take this opportunity to wish all our curlers, and their families, all the best... and, of course, obedient stones!

ANDREW FERGUSON-SMITH, M.A. (Oxon.)

OUR THANKS TO KEITH AND SUSAN!!

August 17, 2010

Keith Wendorf, who has stepped down after 12 years as Director of the W.C.F. Füssen Junior Camp, was given a heartfelt vote of thanks at an unscheduled (at least by him!) ceremony on the final evening of this year's Camp by all its participants - campers, instructors, and staff alike.

E.C.F. President Andrew Ferguson-Smith spoke on behalf of the 1.200 curlers who have enjoyed the privilege of attending the Camp under Keith's Directorship, to the benefit of their technique and of their enthusiasm, when he referred to the standards of excellence, recognized throughout the world of curling, that it has attained... thanks in considerable degree to the vision, energy and hard work of Keith and Susan Wendorf.

Dany Jentsch, herself a longstanding and invaluable Camp participant, echoed these sentiments, and presented Keith and Susan with an engraved plaque commemorating their outstanding achievement.

Their name will not, however, be dissociated from the Camp: a special Wendorf award will now be presented each year to the camper who has made the greatest contribution, in terms of sportsmanship and camaraderie, to the Camp's success.

To replace Keith, we warmly welcome W.C.F. Curling Development Officer Eeva Röthlisberger, a most distinguished name in international curling, and wish her every success in Keith and Sue's footsteps.
